Treat yourself to 10 beautiful tunes this weekend

GUEST POST FROM OUR RESIDENT MUSO @feelotter

These are the songs I have loved listening to this week, which features more female vocalists than usual for me!

Separate Lives – Hælos – Full Circle

London based Trip Hop band, made up of 3 members, Lotti Benardout, Arthur Delaney, and Dom Goldsmith.

Hælos are a fairly new band and are great mix of female and male vocals. They have been compared to Massive Attack and Portishead –  definitely a band with great promise if “Full Circle” is anything to go by.

The whole album is a real treat.

Dusty Trails – Lucius – Good Grief

A Brooklyn based band, with two lead female vocalists, Jess Wolfe & Holly Laessig

This is just one of their tracks that I love! There debut album Wildewoman is worth checking out too.

Very different vibe if you are looking for something less mainstream.

How big, how blue, how beautiful – Florence & the Machine – How big, how blue, how beautiful

I love this track  from Florence & the Machine  – My appreciation is not shared by the Lotter boys and leads to wailing and ear blocking.

Afterglow – Chvrches – Every Open Eye

I just cannot get enough of this Glaswegian band, Lauren Mayberry’s voice is just gorgeous.

Tilted – Christine & the Queens – Chaleur Humaine

An awesome track from French singer, Héloïse Letissier who has such a gorgeous crystal voice with synth pop vibe! Great album!

Check her out on YouTube – amazing backing dancers

Freazy – My love is cool – Wolf Alice

Love ❤️this track!

A four-piece alternative rock band from North London who just played Glastonbury!

Ellie’s voice is just magical!

Reunion – M83 – Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming

M83 is a French Electronic band, who has released 6 albums andI love all their work. This Track is from 2012 but I am yet to come across a song of theirs that I do not love.

Fire and the Flood – Dream your life away – Vance Joy

A beautiful song by a fantastic Aussie Singer! The whole album is filled with real gems! Vance Joy is also responsible for the amazing song, Riptide which was a main stream hit last year.

If you looking for a good old fashioned dance/house track – then you will enjoy;

Again- Armin van Buuren & Rising Starv(feat. Betsie Larkin) – State of Trance 2016
Durban Skies – Bastille

Bastille is a London based band! Dan Smith”s parents are originally from Durban, this song was written as a dedication to his parents & their home town.

As a Durbanite, I just love it.

Bonus track from The Editors

Finally, as a slightly obsessive fan of the UK band Editors, I always have to include one or two of their songs!

Lyrically, I just love their work!

The Phone Book – The Weight of Your Love

Such a gorgeous realistic love song! The guitars are just glorious in this track!

Seriously your life will be richer if you embrace at least one of the above tracks listed.
