The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will be available in South Africa from 16 October 2015, with Vodacom offering pre-orders from 9 October 2015.
Apple unveiled its new range of smartphones on 9 September, saying they would go on sale from 25 September for between $649 and $949.
Vodacom hasn’t confirmed pricing for the new devices in South Africa which, like the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are available in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB variants. While the new handsets are priced the same as 2014’s models in the US, we’d expect South African pricing to rise given the dismal state of the rand against the dollar compared to the same time last year.
The “s” devices offer upgrades over their predecessors – faster, better camera and a new pressure-sensitive touch interface called 3D touch — but they are the same size and look nearly identical (there is a new rose gold edition). This is great for those who’ve invested in accessories like cases, but also makes it necessary to actually tell people you have the “s” model for full bragging rights.
